Busy busy busy,

Well I have not been at this for a bit, been running about. Hunting was largely unsuccessful with out a single hair seen of a deer. I guess I can hope that in a few short weeks my luck will improve that way.
Other than that, I've completed my first week of school, I have a job interview on the 3rd.. Did some travel as well since I had the chance.
Nothing like Chicago style driving. Turn on you right blinker when you jerk it to the left.  I really hate driving in that area. Speed limit 55? Your run off the road if you do less than 75, which amounts to no end of amusement for me I suppose.
On to other things,
I should have some more gun related stuff up in the next month or so, and hopefully some after effects of the bullets I have selected for hunting this year if all goes well. Failing that I will be setting up water jugs this winter to see how the chosen bullets preform on that.

Wet.

Well I can say one of two things after this mornings hunting.
It can only get better, or this is a sign of how things will be this year. Again.
The story starts out with Jester here tiptoeing though a path that is cut and mowed, high ground in a swamp. Get to the supposed spot that I split off and wander though some grass/brush and.. there is a lot of water here. So I keep wandering looking for where there is not three feet of water and get to the end of the trail.
But wait, there is a log bridge here! I make my way to.. one full step in to it, the sort where you cant just hop back? Yeah. Snap goes the log. Bloosh goes me up past my knees in the water.
That was at first light so you can imagine how stalking though the swamp the rest of the morning went. Several miles down though some of the ugliest terrain I have hunted. And its the sort that you make a lot of racket no matter what, and there is enough cover that any deer are going to have a easy pass at getting away with out you even seeing them.
Other oddity, walking on swamp mats. This is dead plant life that is floating on the surface of the water. It is so thick that its like a second skin and plants and trees start to grow out of this. Very very creepy to walk on. Did not enjoy that one bit. Especially when I found soft spots and sticks were swallowed.  Five foot long sticks.

Anyway, hopefully tomorrow is a better day!

School, Hunting.

Well, It seems that I got in to a online degree program which seems to be alright. It will have me pretty busy on top of my normal daily activities. Also the next four days are T Zone for does here in north east Wisconsin. And in order to shoot a Buck, you have to have a Buck sticker for your Buck Tag... and to get that you have to shoot a Doe.
My opinion on that matter not withstanding, I hope to get out and enjoy some decent weather, hunting for the first time again in years, test out my handloads on a unlucky doe.

That and Its been a while since I have had some venison. I have a craving.

Learn to drive!

I have been pretty busy of late, but one thing I am noticing is seeming to be like a plague on the roads.
I don't care if your in a god damn hurry you fuckers that pull out in front of me.
If you decide that you just HAVE to pull the fuck out in front of me, instead of waiting five or ten seconds until I am past your driveway/entrance on to the highway then put your fucking foot to the floor and drive the car!
Don't pull out then piss around playing fuel economy or your too damn old to push the pedal all the way to the floor making me slam on my brakes. Jesus balls almighty, Get up to highway speed if you are going to do that crap. Whats worse is your burning my fuel economy to the ground by making me slow down, then speed up, and eventually try to pass you!
That's right asshats. The least you could do if you're going to be rude and pull out like that is drive the speed limit. Doing 45 in a 55 is just plain jackoff behavior when you do that.
Further more, if your doing a sum under the speed limit, and you happen to glance back and see no less than half a dozen cars behind you, perhaps think, hmm I should pull over so that people can get around you.

Sighting in..

Well, the 30-30 is finished, the Workhorse 30-06 is dead nuts to the crosshairs for what I need...

the .300 Savage seems to be okay though the scope drifted. While It looks like I will be with out my 300WSM  I will be okay for having a unlucky deer cross my path this year. Three rifles is pretty stellar.
Though my .44 Magnum skill is ... lacking.
I find that I could smack up a deer at 25 yards almost with impunity, Its just no where near the accuracy I would like. Also, pushing the max of the cartridge is not a lot of fun.
The AR's will require more tinkering with finding an acceptable load. This reloading stuff has me all over the map.
I will have it figured out though in the next few months.
Also, It looks like school is starting to pan out for the online form. While this will tax me to the gills on the aspect of a job as well, I hope that it pans out.
Voting as well this year as normal.
Other than that? Beautiful fall weather here in Wisconsin of late, abet a touch cold at night.
